Mr. Frank F. Yu, M.Sc.
Chief Executive Officer, Senior Exploration Advisor
Frank Yu was appointed as DeerGarden’s Chief Executive Officer in August 2010.
Mr. Yu, graduated with a B.Sc. in Geophysics from SW Petroleum University in China 1984, and M.Sc. in Geoscience from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway in1998. Mr. Yu is a fully hands-on Business Manager and strategist with strong expertise in petroleum exploration and project management. His ability to grasp conventional and unconventional exploration concepts is a vital asset to the future growth of DeerGarden.
Mr. Yu worked as Geophysical Superintendent and project manager in Bohai Oil Corporation of CNOOC in China from 1991-1999. He recently served as Vice President and Chief Geophysicist, and a principle founder of Ceno Energy Ltd. (VUX.V) during 2006-2010, and acted as Senior Geophysicist for Repsol YPF. He was employed as a senior geophysicist for ConocoPhillips during 2002-2006.
Mr. Gordon Shmyrko, B. Sc. – Chemical Engineering
VP, Marketing Representative
Mr. Shmyrko is highly regarded as a senior marketing representative with 30 years of experience. He received a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1990. Mr. Shmyrko began his career with Advantage Energy Services Ltd. in 1991, and then he founded Tecskor Corporation to serve to Albertans since 2005.
In 2017, he formed a private R9 Logistics & Consulting firm and worked as a private consultant to the oil and gas industry gaining exposure to a wide range of exploration and production operations. Mr. Shmyrko has held VP Strategic Business Development in Tri-Gen Group since Sept. 2018. He Joined in DeerGarden as a Marketing Representative to support the “Pseudo-pipeline” project for the bitumen export from Edmonton Alberta directly to Asphalt Refineries in China.
Mr. Paul H. Yu, B. Sc. Petroleum Engineering .
VP, Operation
Mr. Paul Yu is a well-disciplined operation engineer with 5 years of experience. He received a Bachelor Degree of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2018. His career started as a summer-job student with Junior Oil Players in summer 2014 & 2015, then full-time on-job training for Drilling Engineering in CNRL 2016 and HSE & Oilsands Mining project in Suncor Energy 2017. He Joined in DeerGarden in Summer 2018 up to now, fully in charge of the transloading operations both in Edmonton & Fort Saskatchewan.
D. Roy Eccles, M.Sc., P.Geol.
Senior Geological Mineral Consultant

Roy obtained his M.Sc. at the University of Alberta completing a thesis on the Petrogenesis of the Northern Alberta Kimberlite Province. He is a practicing professional geologist (P.Geol.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). Roy has over 26 years of mineral research experience encompassing a wide range of geological processes (mantle dynamics through to biogeochemical orientation surveys) and commodities including intrusion-, Phanerozoic- and Precambrian-related mineral deposits. As a 25-year employee with the Manitoba and Alberta geological surveys, Roy has a productive publication record including over 150 published manuscripts and/or oral presentations, and is internationally recognized for research on, and knowledge of, the geology and economic mineral potential of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
